The winery expands over 52 hectares with one body of vineyard on a marvelous hill, Miralduolo, in the center of Umbria between Perugia and Assisi in the noted wine region of Torgiano, one of the first Italian DOC zones (Torgiano obtained DOC recognition in 1968) and the historical DOCG recognition for our region was obtained with the Torgiano Rosso Riserva in 1990.
Of the diverse varietals cultivated, the majority is represented by the traditional vines of Umbria’s wine culture. For the whites we have Trebbiano, Grechetto and Chardonnay, plus other varietals planted as experiments such as Pecorino il Fiano and Traminer. For the important reds we have several clones of Sangiovese, as well as Canaiolo, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Around thirty hectares are destined towards the regular production and market, while the other 22 hectares consist of experimental vines. The winery, infact, in line with a family tradition always oriented towards innovation and the quest for perfection, from this year is equipped with an experimental wine laboratory which will work with small quantities of diverse varietals to test the production of each and to optimize the process of vinification, in relation to the specifications unique to the territory of Torgiano.
Today the winery produces 4 labels of Umbria IGT wines which overall are 50,000 bottles representing just the beginning point of an important project of expansion. In April 2009 the first bottles of DOC Torgiano wine, one red and one white, entered the commercial market.
